Deposit of the Instruments of Ratification of the Protocols Relating to an Amendment of the Convention on International Civil Aviation [Article 50(a), Article 56]

On July 10th, 2026, at the Headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Ambassador Toshio Yamamoto, on behalf of the Government of Japan, deposited the instruments of ratification of the Protocol Relating to an Amendment to Article 50(a) and the Protocol Relating to an Amendment to Article 56 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation with Mr. Michael Gill, Director of the Legal Affairs and External Relations Bureau, who received the instruments on behalf of the Secretary General of ICAO.
The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Ryo Nakamura, Director-General/Assistant Minister for Global Issues of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Toshiyuki Onuma, President of the ICAO Council, marking another milestone in the close and longstanding collaboration between Japan and ICAO.
Japan remains dedicated to promoting the safe, secure, sustainable development of international civil aviation through close cooperation with ICAO and its Member States.
