On Monday 27 January, Mr. Toshiyuki Onuma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Japan to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), held a reception at ICAO Headquarters to mark his arrival in the position. The reception was attended by over 120 people, including representatives from various countries, the ICAO Secretariat, and Japanese nationals. 
 

After an introduction by Ms. Rieko Nakayama, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Ambassador Onuma gave a speech in which he expressed Japan's commitment to contributing to ICAO's activities for the cause of safe and sustainable aviation. Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano, ICAO Council President, welcomed Ambassador Onuma and expressed his hope to cooperate with Japan in various fields in the future. 
 

After the toast, the guests, including Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, ICAO Secretary-General, and representatives of the Council Members, enjoyed a friendly atmosphere throughout the reception. There was also an introduction to Japanese culture through visual images and the serving of Japanese cuisine and sake, which was a good opportunity for the invited guests to experience Japanese culture.
