The National Day Reception in honor of the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, co-organized with the Consulate General of Japan in Montreal, was held at the ICAO Headquarters on Friday November 10, 2017.
Ms. Christine St-Pierre, Quebec Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, and Mr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, President of the ICAO Council, Dr. Fang Liu, Secretary General of ICAO and Permanent Representatives to ICAO were among approximately 420 guests present that evening.
Featured were information kiosks represented by Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Air Canada. The latter’s kiosk, which was co- sponsored by Narita International Airport Corporation, took the special occasion to inaugurate a direct non-stop service between Montreal and Tokyo/Narita starting in June 2018, drawing much attention from guests. In addition, CyberConnect2, a Japanese video game development company setting up its R&D headquarters in Montreal, participated in exhibition.
Aesthetically-pleasing flower arrangements by the four schools represented within the Montreal Chapter of Ikebana International (Koryu Shotoukai, Sogetsu, Ohara and Ikenobo) brightened up the venue fascinated guests.
